Permanent residents may join the library free of charge with proof of identification and residency.
Identification can include a driver’s license, passport, rental agreement, piece of mail, student card, etc. Children require a parent or guardian to register.
Members of other BC libraries may be eligible for a BC OneCard, which would give them borrowing privileges at Powell River Public Library.
Non-residents who aren’t eligible for a BC OneCard can purchase a temporary library card for $25.00, which is valid for 6 months.
Library card holders’ rights and responsibilities
You are responsible for all the materials borrowed on your card and for any charges on items that are overdue, lost or damaged. (See Loan Periods and Fines for details). Your library card provides access to licensed databases from outside the library. You may also look at our catalogue from home over the Internet, and access your account to place holds, keep lists and renew items.
Lost or stolen cards
If you lose your library card, you are responsible for any items checked out on your card. You must report it as lost immediately and we will block the card so that no one can use it. There is no charge to replace a lost card.
Change of address or password
It is important for us to have your current information. If you change your address or other personal information, contact the library and we’ll update your record.
