Summer Reading Club 2019: Imagine the Possibilities
Let the wild rumpus begin! This year’s Summer Reading Club will set your imagination in motion and keep it rolling through seven weeks of FREE programs from a summer reading challenge to wildly imaginative weekly workshops and an immersive world-building series.

SRC Kick-off:Mad Hatters’ Parade
AGES 6+ |10 AM -NOON JUL. 3 | FIRST CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY ROOM & LIBRARY PATIO
Design your own banners and noisemakers and make a flashy parade hat with visual artist and mad hatter extraordinaire, Meghan Hildebrand. If you haven’t yet registered for SRC, submit this form after the parade!
Summer Reading Challenge
AGES 12 AND UNDER|JUL. 2- AUG.17
Track your daily reading progress in our Imagine the Possibilities reading records and enjoy weekly rewards along the way. Read for a minimum of 20 minutes each day. Stop by the library service desk once a week to collect stickers for your reading record and pick up a weekly reader’s surprise – from bookmarks to prize draws. Phantom Story Forts
AGES 6+ | 10 AM -NOON JUL. 4, 11, 18, 25, AUG. 1, 8 | FIRST CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY ROOM
Construct and explore the Lands Beyond in this immersive multi-week world-building, crafting and listening adventure. Every Thursday you’ll journey deeper into the Kingdom of Wisdom, following the story of Milo as he passes through the tollbooth from boredom to Expectations to the Doldroms and beyond. Six Thursdays, six Crazy Fort construction challenges, six ingenious crafts to keep your hands busy while you listen to The Phantom Tollbooth.
Inventor’s Club: Pack for Adventure

Ready? Set? Pack! Choose an extreme environment card on arrival. Then, with the help of our guest design experts and a limitless supply of cardboard components, design and pack your own specialized backpack that will help you thrive and survive wherever your assignment takes you.
In the Dark: Mythical Beasts

Transform yourself into a mythical beast using the power of dark and light! Create a magical full-body shadow play with children’s author and illustrator Deb Zagwyn.

Make your own plant-based collages using petals, leaves, and other foliage with multimedia artist and master of assemblage Theo Angell. Collages will be photo-documented and printed on glossy paper for you to take home.
Dig This: Junior Archaeologist
AGES 8+| 10 AM -NOON JUL. 31 | FIRST CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY ROOM
Excavate, draw and reconstruct broken ceramics with expert conservator Naoko Fukumaru in this hands-on workshop that aspiring archaeologists will truly dig.
Have a Blast Rocket Challenge and SRC Finale!
AGES 6+ | 10 AM-NOON AUG. 7 | FIRST CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY ROOM
Kids and caregivers team up in this over-the-moon engineering challenge. Build a slingshot straw rocket, then launch it at a moving moon target in the Library’s entrance atrium. Rockets will compete in rounds with the moon lifting higher each round. From the troposphere to the stratosphere to the mesosphere and beyond! Will your rocket make it to outer space? There will be astrosnacks and prizes!
SPECIAL PERFORMANCE: Story Theatre: The Library Club
EVERYONE WELCOME | 2 PM JUL. 23 | FIRST CREDIT UNION COMMUNITY ROOM
Meet The Library Club: three eager students who spend their weekends repairing books, tracking down overdue ones, and returning them to the shelves. When fantastic creatures begin to roam the school and books start to go missing, the Club steps up to solve the mystery. No registration required. Just show up!
