WIR 2024 — Powerful Memories

Tuesday October 15 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

The most powerful books are usually ones with characters that feel real, with emotions readers can connect to. One technique to add more emotional intensity to our writing involves drawing on our own childhood memories and using them to deepen character development and craft vivid scenes.

PRPL’s Writer in Residence for 2024 is Robin Stevenson

Residency Dates:  September 12th, 2024 – October 26th, 2024

Robin Stevenson is the award winning author of more than thirty books of fiction and non-fiction for kids and teens. Her books have won the Silver Birch Award, the Sheila A. Egoff award and a Stonewall Honor, and been finalists for the Governor General’s Literary Awards, the Lambda Literary Awards, and many reader’s choice awards.

Robin was the Book and Periodical Council of Canada’s Champion of Free Expression for 2022. In 2023, she was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Literary Excellence. Robin is represented by Eric Smith at PS Literary Agency. She lives on the west coast of Canada with her family.
