Ukrainian-Heiltsuk Carver Ivan Rosypskye

Saturday March 1 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us in celebrating the conclusion of the Craving Lost Family History project, a collaborative initiative bringing together artists and researchers in an effort to repatriate knowledge to families and to empower artists to change the world through the sharing of their stories.
Powell River resident and Ukrainian-Heiltsuk carver, Ivan Rosypskye, will be unveiling his monumental art piece inspired by the coming together of his parents, two people from two oppressed and colonized communities. Alongside Ivan, researchers from the University of the Fraser Valley and teachers from Brooks Secondary School will be sharing about their involvement with the project. Everyone is welcome to attend and to take this unique opportunity to learn about Ukrainian and Indigenous cultural and historical revival in the face of colonialism through artistic expression.
