3D Printing at the Library

PRPL has a PRUSA i3MK3S+ 3D printer. This addition to the Library’s services will enable and encourage our community to learn and develop digital literacy skills.

All Patrons wishing to use the 3D printer must complete an orientation.

Booking a 3D printer orientation

To book an orientation: contact Teen Services Coordinator Mel Edgar at edgar@prpl.ca or by phone at 604-485-4796 ext. 213.

Those who have previously used PRPL’s Ditto Pro 3D (prior to 2023) must also sign up for a quick orientation to the new PRUSA i3MK3S+ — as there are significant changes to note about using the new machine.

Patrons under 10 must use the 3D printer with an adult who has completed an orientation.

Orientations last for approximately 40-60 minutes and provide an overview of the device, how to find and print 3D designs, and terms of use.

Using the 3D Printer

Once you’ve completed an orientation, and subject to availability, you may book a two-hour time slot with the 3D printer by contacting  the library service desk.

A fee of $1.00 will be collected for each use of the printer. The fee is to recover the cost of the filament.

This brochure provides some additional information about 3D printing at PRPL, including printing procedures, specifications, as well as 3D design.
