PRPL’s Writer in Residence for 2022 is Gabrielle Prendergast

Residency Dates: September 6th, 2022 – November 4th, 2022

Gabrielle is the award-winning author of numerous books for children, and teens.

Gabrielle was Writer in Residence at Vancouver Public Library in 2014, and has expertise in mentoring and supporting authors writing for adults, including those who are interested in self-publishing.

In 2018, Gabrielle won the BC & Yukon Book Prizes Sheila A. Egoff Children’s Literature Prize for her novel Zero Repeat Forever, which is now in film development. Gabrielle has published a wealth of middle-grade and young adult novels, including several Hi-Lo titles and novels in verse, as well as a selection of children’s titles (available at PRPL).

Gabrielle has been nominated for the White Pine Award and the CLA Award, The Vancouver Book Award, The Myrca, Diamond Willow and Red Cedar prizes. Gabrielle has an MFA in Creative Writing from UBC and has taught writing at Sydney University, San Francisco State University, UBC and Royal Canadian College as well as at numerous conferences and in school classrooms.  Gabrielle lives in Vancouver.

About PRPL’s Writer in Residence Program

2022 is the inaugural year of PRPL’s Writer in Residence program.

During their residency, the Writer in Residence uses their expertise to engage and inspire readers and writers of all ages, with one-on-one manuscript consultations, readings, writing workshops, presentations with students and schools, and more!
