Summer Workshops for Teens
The Powell River Public Library is excited to offer two new workshops for teens this July. The programs include podcasting and storytelling in the DIY Teen Podcast Summer Workshop, and the Positive Protest Poster Workshop with local artist Luke Ramsey.
DIY Teen Summer Podcast Workshop:
Create and record your own podcast during this one week workshop at the Powell River Public Library. This engaging and creative week will combine technology and storytelling to help teens build their own podcast. Monday, July 8 – Friday, July 12 from 1-4 pm. Ages 12-19 welcome. Positive Protest Poster Workshop with artist Luke Ramsey:
Youth are invited to make positive protest posters at the Powell River Public Library with local artist Luke Ramsey. Luke will share a collection of posters he’s designed and a variety of other examples for inspiration. Youth will discuss topics they want to address, and create posters to communicate their message. Wednesday, July 24 and Thursday, July 25 from 1-3 pm. Ages 12-18 are welcome. Registration required.

Throughout the summer:
Young Writers’ Group:
Writers 13-18 years old are invited to join this weekly group at the Powell River Public Library where poets, fiction writers, fantasy lovers, and aspiring memoirists gather to discuss writing and share their work. Led by teen services coordinator Megan Cole, the Young Writers’ Group meets Fridays at the Library from 4-5 pm. Drop-in. For more information click here.
Book Club for Young adults:
Teens and young adults are invited to join this monthly book club at the Powell River Public Library. Books are chosen by teens and young adults! Books are selected annually by book club members and include fiction, fantasy, mystery, nonfiction and graphic novels. Last Friday of every month. Ages 15-21. Registration required.
