Here is an overview of what’s happening at PRPL for October

|Preschool Storytime: Thursdays & Saturdays, 10:30AM – 11:00AM with Children’s Coordinator Sonia Zagwyn!|
|Read to Dogs!: Thursday October 3rd, 3:30PM – 4:30PM with furry, four-legged friends from St. John Ambulance.|
|Early Literacy and Your Child: Thursday October 10th, 1:00pm – 4:00PM. Parents and preschoolers (3 – 4) are welcome to explore learning tools with speech-language pathologist Alyssa Dixon.|
|Pro-D Day “Paper Bag Monsters”: Friday October 25th, 10:00AM – 12:00PM in anticipation of Hallowe’en.|
|“Book the Stage” Community Storytime: Saturday October 26th, 10:00AM – 11:00AM. The last Saturday of the month will feature a surprise local guest at Preschool storytime (perhaps you?).|
|Young Writers’ Group: Every Friday, 4:00PM – 5:00PM. Youth ages 13 – 18 are welcome to join Teen Coordinator Megan Cole to share their writing projects and develop their craft. Ideal for youth submitting their work to SCRAWL, our new art and writing journal.|
|Teen Advisory Board: Youth (13 – 18) are invited to join the library’s Teen advisory board to develop ideas for programming and the collection.|
|Tech Savvy – Adobe Digital Cloud: Friday October 4th, 7:00 pm – 8:00pm. Learn about a variety of graphic design, web design, photo and video editing programs with Adult Coordinator, Mark Merlino.|
Earthquakes in the qathet Region: Saturday October 5th, 2:00pm – 3:30pm. Ryan Thoms will discuss the history of the 1946 earthquake in our region.
|Getting Creative – Exploring Creative Nonfiction: 4 x Saturdays starting October 12th, 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Megan Cole offers a series of workshops from memoir to literary journalism.|
|BC Writers Series presents Deborah Hodge: Tuesday October 22nd, 7:00pm – 8:00pm. Join prolific author, Deborah Hodge to learn the craft of writing for children.|
|Captured by Fire – Surviving British Columbia’s New Wildfire Reality: Tuesday October 22nd, 7:00pm – 8:00pm. Bestselling author Chris Czajkowski and Fred Reid share how they survived the 2017 wildfires on their remote BC homesteads.|
