Get creative, learn new and old technology, and make your own zine! Zines, which are homemade magazines embracing specialized, fringe or niche subjects, are a great way to combine various mediums and technologies. Whatever your motivation, and whatever topics get you inspired, zines allow you to be your own author, artist, editor, art director and publisher.
In this weekly Zine Lab, participants will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to create a zine including technology that could be considered obsolete (like photocopiers, film cameras, collaging, and typewriters), along with things like laser cutters, layout and design software and more. Participants in this Zine Lab will also have the opportunity to learn from local artists, writers, and various other experts.
This after school program is provided in partnership with the Dr. Elsie Paul Literacy Centre.
