What does reconciliation look like in Powell River? Why is it important? How can I practice reconciliation at work and at home? What is the TRC and how did it come about? What are the 96 recommendations and Calls to Action?

Tuesdays from 5:30-7:30 in the First Credit Union Community Room in the Library.

November 7- December 5

For 5 consecutive Tuesdays, as part of a collaboration between Vancouver Island University and the Hɛhɛwšɩn Canoe Carving Project, the Community Conversation Series will explore those questions through community-based dialogue.

Each conversation will have one to two community members speak to their experience with reconciliation. This will create a space for all community members to ask questions and be in discussion about the topic. The conversations will be peer-to-peer, personal, and an active dialogue; as well as a space for people to feel safe asking questions and expressing themselves.

November 7: An introduction to the TRC (Truth and Reconciliation Commission)
November 14: Dr. Cindy Addison and Christine Hollman, Terracentric
November 21: Mac Fraser: Powell River’s Chief Administrative Officer
November 28: Russell Brewer: PR City Councillor and President of the PR Métis Society
December 5: Reverend Mary White from the United Church and Dr. Susan Horsfall
