Monique Gray Smith is an award-winning author and speaker. Her books are used to share wisdom, knowledge, hope and the important teaching that love is medicine. Join Monique for this live Zoom event as she reads from her book Tilly and the Crazy Eights, discusses her work and answers your questions.

This is a virtual event that will happen live on Zoom on Friday, November 20 from 7 to 8 pm.

The Powell River Public Library is thrilled to announce the second year of the BC Writers Series. The writers series is focused on highlighting the talent of authors that call British Columbia home. Mark Leiren-Young, Kathy Page, Lindsay Wong and Monique Gray Smith will be part of this exciting series being offered in partnership by the Powell River Public Library and the Powell River Friends of the Public Library.
More about Monique:
Monique Gray Smith is a proud mom of teenage twins, an award-winning, best-selling author and sought after consultant. Monique’s first published novel, Tilly: A Story of Hope and Resilience won the 2014 Burt Award for First Nation, Métis and Inuit Literature.

Since then, Monique has had 6 books come out. These include Speaking our Truth: A Journey of Reconciliation; My Heart Fills with Happiness, You Hold Me Up, Lucy and Lola, Tilly and the Crazy Eights and When We Are Kind.

Monique is Cree, Lakota and Scottish and has been sober and involved in her healing journey for over 29 years. She is well known for her storytelling, spirit of generosity and focus on resilience.

From poetry to memoir and historical fiction, the BC Writers Series aims to showcase the wide variety of work being published in the province.
The BC Writers Series includes readings and presentations as well as school visits for children and teens.
The Powell River Public Library is excited to add these four wonderful authors to the list of the many we’ve been fortunate to host in the past, including Grant Lawrence, Mike McCardell, John Vaillant and Kyo Maclear.
These engaging and fun Library events are open to people of all ages, and are free. Because author readings and workshops are often popular, we recommend that anyone interested arrive early to ensure that they get a seat.
