A feature author for the 2019 BC Writers Series.

The Powell River Public Library is launching the BC Writers Series this year. The writers series is focused on highlighting the talent of authors that call British Columbia home. Dina Del Bucchia, Susan Juby, Sam Wiebe and Deborah Hodge will be part of the first year of this exciting new series being offered at the Library.

From poetry to mystery, the BC Writers Series aims to showcase the wide variety of work being published in the province.

Dina Del Bucchia, a celebrated poet and fiction writer from Vancouver, will kick off the series with a visit to the Library on Friday, March 22. She will do a work shop with teen writers during the Young Writers’ Group from 4-5 pm. At 7 pm Dina will discuss her writing, poetry, fiction and more in a conversation with writer and teen services coordinator Megan Cole.

Followed by Susan Juby later in the spring. Juby is the author of The Woefield Poetry Collective¸ Republic of Dirt, Alice, I think, and Nice Recovery.

In the fall, man of mystery (writing) and Vancouver noir author Sam Wiebe will visit Powell River as the perfect way to head in the spooky months around Halloween.

For kids, and those who are still young at heart, award-winning children’s book author Deborah Hodge will be visiting in the fall.

The Powell River Public Library is excited to add these four wonderful authors to the list of the many we’ve been fortunate to host in the past, including Grant Lawrence, Mike McCardell, John Vaillant and Kyo Maclear.

These engaging and fun Library events are open to people of all ages, and are free. Because author readings and workshops are often popular, we recommend that anyone interested arrive early to ensure that they get a seat.
